A lot of business owners have had to rethink their business strategies with COVID-19 changing what our daily lives look like. Restaurants, bars, and other eateries have been hit the hardest by far, but local chef Darnell Reed, owner of Luella’s Southern Kitchen, has taken this as an opportunity to expand his culinary knowledge and his business.
For weeks while restaurants in Illinois were only allowed to operate through take-out, Reed started taking online baking classes. Now Baye’s Little Bakery operates as an online bakery through Luella’s Southern Kitchen website. This has been a huge opportunity both for Reed and his employees who had been helping at Reed’s second restaurant, Luella’s Gospel Bird, since the pandemic started.
Luella’s Southern Kitchen and Baye’s Little Bakery are open for take-out at http://luellassouthernkitchen.com/.
